Zoho Study Shows 93% of Indian Organizations Using AI

A recent report by Zoho reveals that nearly 93% of Indian organisations have started using artificial intelligence in some form.

Why AI Is Now Everywhere

AI isn’t just for the tech giants anymore. The study — titled “The AI Privacy Equation: India Market Report” — shows that Indian businesses of all sizes are embracing AI tools to simplify workflows, make smarter decisions and upgrade services.

But what stands out is not just the adoption of AI. Many companies are also actively improving privacy and ethics practices. Around 71% said they strengthened their privacy frameworks after introducing AI.

Further, about 61% have set up AI‑ethics committees to guide their use of AI responsibly.

Building Trust: Privacy & Governance

The study finds 92% of these companies already have dedicated privacy teams or officers — a rate that’s higher than global averages.

Many firms are also putting money where it counts: around 65% allocate more than 20% of their IT budget toward privacy protection. Measures like data‑minimisation, frequent audits, and secure data‑handling have become common.

This shows that Indian organisations aren’t just rushing to adopt AI — they’re doing it with a sense of responsibility and awareness of potential risks.

Where AI Is Being Used

According to the report, AI is already embedded in many areas across businesses:

  • Some use AI for coding and software development.

  • Others apply it in customer support, product development and decision‑making workflows.

This broad adoption suggests AI has moved beyond a “nice-to-have” tool. For many companies, it’s now part of their core operations.

Challenges Still Ahead

Though the progress is remarkable, the study points out a few hurdles. Around 44% of organisations say poor data quality or lack of adequate data remains a barrier. 39% mention regulatory compliance as a concern. And 38% highlight a shortage of technical expertise.

Plus, 41% still worry about privacy and security risks linked to AI deployment.

To make AI adoption sustainable, many companies plan to upskill internal teams — boosting AI literacy, data analysis skills, prompt engineering and model development capabilities.

What This Means for India

With high AI usage across sectors and increasing focus on governance, India is shaping up as a global leader in enterprise AI adoption that’s grounded in responsibility.

Rather than rushing in blindly, companies are pairing AI adoption with care: privacy frameworks, ethics oversight and infrastructure investment. That balance could give Indian businesses a strong advantage as AI becomes more central worldwide.

“In short: AI is already here — but it’s not just about using it. It’s about using it right.”
